In 2024, Oklahoma is probably going to commemorate Josh Heupel when Tennessee comes to Norman.

Josh Heupel, the head coach of the Tennessee Vols, will make his first trip back to Norman in 2024 after being dismissed by Bob Stoops, the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, following the 2014 campaign.
Heupel, who was sacked from his position as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma, was the quarterback for the Sooners in 2000 when they won a national championship—that was Stoops’ second season as the team’s head coach.
Heupel and Stoops’s relationship has been characterized as “icy” over the past ten years (Stoops retired in 2017, but he remains active in Norman).
Heupel and Stoops are reportedly at odds, but when Tennessee comes to Norman on September 21 to play the Sooners, the former Oklahoma quarterback is anticipated to be recognized.
Scoop’s Sooners This week, George Stoia spoke with Andy Staples about Heupel’s coming back to Norman. And according to Stoia, after speaking with several members of Oklahoma’s administration, it appears like the Sooners will pay tribute to Heupel in some way.
