This is the Texas roster departure tracker, a list of those Longhorns who have announced they’re entering the transfer portal, have already entered the portal, have left the team, or have entered the 2023 NFL Draft.
Last season, Steve Sarkisian had a pretty good idea how much roster turnover Texas would experience coming out of a 5-7 season, saying he expected as many as 33 new players to join the roster heading into the 2022 season. It ended up being 37 when you count the 28 freshmen signed in the 2022 recruiting class as well as transfers.
Texas isn’t expecting that kind of turnover again this offseason. In fact, Sarkisian successfully got a few players who took part in Senior Day after spending at least four years at UT to return for next season and take advantage of the additional season of eligibility awarded to all scholarship athletes by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
