Scott taking on leadership role in preparation for 2024 season
Keionte Scott has become a leader for the Tigers.
AUBURN, Alabama—Even before Keionte Scott announced his decision to return for the 2024 season, the defensive back was busy recruiting other players to come play at Auburn. It’s just part of who he is and how much he believes in the program under coach Hugh Freeze and the current staff.
Excited to step into more of a leadership role next season with the loss of guys like Marcus Harris and Jaylin Simpson, Scott said he’s ready for his opportunity to show guys what’s expected at Auburn and in the Southeastern Conference.
“Definitely the leader in the room,” Scott said of his mindset for his senior year. “Just making sure that I’m being able to help everybody, give everybody advice, and ultimately, just this year of making sure we’re ultimately bringing up some of the younger guys and evaluating them and moving them up to become vets and learn the terminology and stuff, so when I do depart next year that they’re able to carry on the standard in the DB room.”
One of the guys that hopes to continue that standard in the coming seasons for the Tigers is signee Kensley Faustin. Watching the defense closely after choosing Auburn, Faustin said he has gotten close to Scott throughout the process and is excited about playing with him on the Plains.
“I would say he’s probably one of the main reasons why I committed,” Faustin said. “Just the relationship with him is great. He kept it real with me. Everything I asked, he kept it real with me.
