Didier Drogba, the former striker for Chelsea, has declared Victor Osimhen, a forward from Nigeria, to be his favorite player in the world.
At an awards ceremony in France, 45-year-old Didier Drogba was questioned on a variety of topics, including his favorite Chelsea player.
Drogba named Frank Lampard his favorite teammate, despite playing with luminaries like Mikel Obi, Michael Ballack, and William Gallas.
Drogba’s decision makes sense because only two players in Chelsea history have scored more goals than the retiring England midfielder.
Drogba finished third among Chelsea’s all-time top scorers with 164 goals, according to Transfermarkt, while Lampard scored an incredible 211 goals for the team. Second place goes to North London’s Bobby Tampling, a forward with 172 goals.
In a snap interview with Sports Illustrated, Drogba was asked to name his favorite active player in the world. He said without hesitation, “Victor Osimhen.”
One may say that Drogba is returning Osimhen’s affection for him. Remember that in 2022, when asked to identify a football role model, the 24-year-old Nigerian striker chose the Ivorian football star as his hero?
