Bru McCoy ankle update: Tennessee WR undergoes season-ending surgery after injury

With what looked to be a severe lower-leg injury, Tennessee receiver Bru McCoy left the Vols’ game against South Carolina on Saturday and had to be taken off the field against the Gamecocks.

McCoy sustained the injury as a result of Marcellas Dial’s clumsy tackle, which left his right leg entangled beneath them. When Dial completed his tackling of McCoy, the receiver was on his back, lying flat. As soon as he noticed the damage to his injury, he reached for his helmet.

McCoy was eventually taken off the field after trainers attended to him on the ground.

McCoy left the South Carolina game without playing again. The institution said on Sunday that he had surgery to repair a “fracture-dislocation” of the right ankle, terminating the season.
