Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson has emerged as a potential target for Aston Villa as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Emiliano Martinez.
Villa are expected to make significant decisions regarding their goalkeeping department during the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting Martinez could be on his way out of the club. The Argentine international, who has been a key figure at Villa Park in recent seasons, is believed to be attracting serious interest from abroad, with Juventus reportedly among the clubs monitoring his situation.

Should Martinez complete a move away from the Midlands, Aston Villa are understood to have identified Henderson as one of the leading candidates to replace him.
The Palace goalkeeper has enjoyed an impressive spell since arriving at Selhurst Park from Manchester United in the summer of 2023. Signed in a deal worth around ยฃ20 million, Henderson quickly established himself as one of the most dependable goalkeepers in the Premier League and has become a central figure in the club’s recent success.
His performances have played a significant role in one of the most successful periods in Crystal Palace’s history. Henderson was instrumental during the club’s FA Cup triumph and their UEFA Conference League success, producing a series of important performances in both domestic and European competition.
Those displays have inevitably attracted attention.
According to reports, Aston Villa have been tracking Henderson’s development for some time and view him as a goalkeeper capable of stepping into a high-pressure environment. Former Villa scout Mick Brown has suggested the club’s interest is genuine and that Henderson’s name has been discussed internally as part of their summer planning.
However, any move is unlikely to be straightforward.
The England international still has two years remaining on his current contract, and Crystal Palace are believed to have little interest in allowing one of their most influential players to leave. The club regard Henderson as a key member of the squad and a major part of their ambitions moving forward.
Having made more than 100 appearances for Palace, the goalkeeper has established himself as a fan favourite and one of the dressing room’s most respected figures. His contributions in major matches, including cup finals and important league fixtures, have only strengthened his standing among supporters.
The arrival of Pierre Sage has done little to change Palace’s position. The new manager is understood to be eager to retain the experienced goalkeeper as he begins work on the next chapter at Selhurst Park.
Aston Villa are not the only club credited with an interest.
Chelsea have also been linked with Henderson in recent months and are believed to have made initial enquiries regarding his availability. Although no formal offer has materialised, the London club continue to assess their options in the goalkeeping market.
For Palace, the growing interest presents an unwelcome distraction during an important summer. While speculation is likely to continue, the club remain determined to keep hold of one of their most reliable performers.
Whether Henderson would consider a move elsewhere remains uncertain. For now, his focus remains on Crystal Palace, where he has become an integral part of the team’s recent achievements and future ambitions.
