Oliver Glasner has bid an emotional farewell to Crystal Palace supporters after bringing the most successful era in the club’s modern history to a close.
The Austrian manager leaves Selhurst Park after two and a half remarkable years in charge, having transformed Palace from a side battling for consistency into one capable of competing for and winning major honours. His departure marks the end of a period that supporters will remember for generations.
Glasner was appointed on 19 February 2024 and quickly made his mark on the club. Under his leadership, Palace achieved unprecedented success, lifting the FA Cup in 2025 with a famous victory over Manchester City. That triumph was followed by Community Shield success against Liverpool on penalties and, most recently, last week’s UEFA Conference League final victory over Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig.
Having announced in January that he would leave at the end of the 2025/26 campaign in search of a fresh challenge, Glasner now departs with his reputation firmly secured as one of the most influential figures in Crystal Palace history.
The morning after Palace’s European triumph, the manager released an open letter to supporters reflecting on his time at the club and expressing his gratitude to everyone connected with it.
GLASNER SAID IN HIS OPEN LETTER:
“I am writing this the morning after the most magnificent evening in Leipzig which so many of you will have enjoyed both here and at home, and I hope you all still have big smiles on your faces as we do.
It’s hard to explain how I feel leaving Crystal Palace after the last two years, but I have to say what a privilege it’s been working for the football club. It’s a period that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
As I said last weekend, I arrived at Selhurst Park as a stranger. Now I feel like a South Londoner. Of course, all football fans will say their club is special, but Palace really is unique, with a distinct energy rooted within the community and family at the core.
Most of all the club is built on the strongest of connections between the team and its fans. I feel very fortunate to have been on an amazing journey with you all during the time I have been here.”
The departing manager went on to explain that while trophies will always be remembered, the relationships formed during his spell at Palace meant even more to him.
He highlighted the bond between players, coaching staff, the board and supporters as the foundation of the club’s achievements, praising fans for creating an atmosphere that inspired the team to compete against some of the biggest sides in England and Europe.
Glasner concluded by thanking supporters for their unwavering backing and expressed confidence that the club can continue building on its recent success. As Palace prepare for another European campaign next season, his final message was one of belief, gratitude and optimism.
For Crystal Palace supporters, the memories of the Glasner era are unlikely to fade any time soon.
