Crystal Palace defender Chris Richards has confirmed that he is back in full training and expects to be available for the United States’ opening World Cup fixture against Paraguay on Friday, following a successful recovery from the ankle injury that threatened his participation in the tournament.
The centre-back has been working intensively to regain fitness after suffering the injury towards the end of the domestic season with Crystal Palace. While there were initial concerns that the problem could jeopardise his involvement on football’s biggest stage, Richards has now revealed that he is fully fit and ready to play.
