PHIL PARKINSON doesn’t want any disappointment from the derby defeat to linger and has urged his players to put all their focus on getting back to winning ways against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park tomorrow.
Wrexham dominated Saturday’s League Two clash with local rivals Tranmere who took an early lead but the Reds lacked an end product in the final third and lost 1-0.
It was the second successive game at The Racecourse that Wrexham failed to score on the back of last Tuesday’s goalless draw against Harrogate Town.
But with eight games remaining in the push for a top-three finish, the highflying Reds remain in an excellent position and Parkinson has told his players not to dwell on the past result.
“I just stressed to the players about concentrating on what we did well and improving on other aspects, but equally, make sure we put any frustration on not getting a result firmly to one side when we go to Grimsby,” said Parkinson.
We know there are areas we can be better at but there was a lot of really good stuff as well. We had so many opportunities to get back in the game and then go on and win it.
“When we have that much dominance, something normally falls for you and I think we are due something to go our way in and around the box.
“But in terms of effort level and desire to win the game, the lads gave us everything.
“I have watched a lot of games in our division and you don’t often see teams dominate like we have done in the last two games and only get one point.
“There is always going to be a bit of a reaction because it is a derby game and the heightened atmosphere because of that.
