The Green Bay Packers are 2-5 in the 2023 NFL season and any hopes of making the playoffs are quickly dwindling (if not completely gone).
The majority of teams’ blocking takes place on the offensive side of the ball.
The inability to maintain momentum, failure to score in the first half, and lack of consistent and effective match decisions have all taken their toll on this team.
Going forward, would the team consider adding a veteran playmaker to their offense to try to increase their production?
One analyst seems to think so.
Golladay was a very good receiver for the Detroit Lions, but his experience for the New York Giants was a disaster.
He is now available and could be a suitable veteran option to add to an extremely young receiver room.
Golladay recorded 65 receptions for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns during the 2019 season with Detroit.
It’s clear that many people think he’s going to be a superstar in the future, which is why the Giants signed him to a big contract.
He could resurrect his career by joining a team like the Packers.
In short, the odds are slim that the Packers would consider bringing in Golladay.
Golladay is 29 years old (he turns 30 on November 3, 2023) and is clearly past his prime.
Signing him would completely go against the unofficial โyouth movementโ the Packers have been a part of this offseason.
Regardless of how the 2023 season ends, there’s a good chance Jordan Love will be back for at least another year.
The core of Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft are guys the front office wants to develop together.
While they may not seem like contenders in 2023, it is possible they develop into one in 2024 or 2025.
Adding a veteran to the mix would hinder the progress of the younger athletes on offense.
Additionally, Golladay hasn’t played a snap since 2022.
That season he appeared in 12 games while only starting four of them.
