areegd: Kentucky manager has agreed with the 4 signing, recruits in early signing period

Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari announced the signings of four class of 2024 recruits on Thursday as Somto Cyril, Boogie Fland, Travis Perry and Jayden Quaintance signed national letters of intent with UK during the fall signing period. With those additions, Kentucky signed 74 top-50 players, 58 top-25 players and 34 top-10 players (according to Rivals) among Calipari’s 16 Kentucky recruiting classes. Here is a UK Athletics profile of each signatory. Stats: Cyril averaged 11.6 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game in the preseason last year, shooting 70.5% from the field in Rod Wave Elite and Overtime Elite. As a junior, Cyril scored 8.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. Notable: Was named OTE Defensive Player of the Year as a junior after leading the league in blocks per game with 3.4. Before Overtime Elite, he attended Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. Cyril has a wingspan of 7 feet 5 and is nicknamed “Baby Shaq”. Why Kentucky signed: “Being here today and being a part of one of the biggest programs in the country feels so surreal. Knowing that I’m at home, I’ve been watching YouTube and basketball on YouTube. This school here was first. one I watched when I started playing basketball .And now I’m one of their players. This feeling I can’t explain. I’m just thankful for this moment. I know I’m ready for it. It was not given to me for free. I deserved it.” Coach Cal: “Somto is a great kid with an incredible story. He fell in love with basketball watching YouTube and Anthony Davis highlights. He made it his goal to attend Kentucky and accomplished that goal by being an excellent athlete, shot blocker and rebounder. We are delighted that he will be joining us next year.
