The whole ordeal represents a continued a fall for Anderson this season. The two-time All-Star and former batting champion is having a dreadful year. He’s been injured and underperformed, in addition to this. He’s hitting just .238 with one home run, 21 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
He’s one of the few White Sox veterans that wasn’t dealt at the trade deadline, although teams did have interest in acquiring him. He has a team option this offseason on his contract that is likely to be exercised by the White Sox, but he could still be traded.
The White Sox are 48-73 on the year and own the third-worst record in the American League.
They’ll play the Rockies on Friday at 8:40 p.m. ET.
