BBC Report: 4,444 Gators lose on road to LSU Tigers with another tough game on the horizon

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – It could be another tough weekend coming up for the Gator football team as they get ready to go to nationally ranked Missouri, a team that just destroyed Tennessee at home this past weekend. Mizzou is playing really well, especially on offense, and we saw what a good offense can do to a young and inexperienced defensive unit in the LSU game where Quarterback Jayden Daniels was incredible. How in this day and age can you alone be responsible for over 600 yards of offense? Well, that’s what Daniels did, and if he isn’t at least in New York as one of the Heisman finalists in a few weeks, something is wrong.

But back to Missouri and Florida. The Tigers have a lot to play for. They have a chance to win 10 games for the first time in several years and to go to a very nice bowl game. And its defense, especially the front seven, is legit. It probably won’t be as easy to score points for Florida as it was going up against the saran wrap that was LSU’s defense. And right now, Florida’s defense couldn’t stop a train. A new coordinator working with a lot of youth, especially in the secondary, is being shredded.

If there is a silver lining here, it was that coach Billy Napier had his Gators ready to play in Baton Rouge. They fought, they were engaged, and the offense that was criticized heavily by some fans has played much better of late and the offense is not why Florida lost to LSU. If I’m being picky, the Gators do seem to curiously go stretches where they don’t get the ball to its main playmakers like Trey Wilson but when you look at the numbers in this game you can’t complain much about the offense. LSU is a rivalry game, and the Gators were up to play it; we’ll see if they have that same fight in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday.

As the regular season winds down, we start to look more closely at who might be the top four teams that will eventually make the College Football Playoff and if anyone thinks that Georgia is not now clearly the number one team in America, please convince me why you don’t think so. They blew away a good Ole Miss team at home and looked dominating in doing it. This is where Florida fans want their team to be and like it or not, you have to give a ton of credit to Coach Kirby Smart for having his group in line for a three-peat national championship. Who can beat them? Well, remember Ohio State shoulda, woulda, coulda have beaten them last year and Michigan looks to have the toughness to hang with the Bulldogs. But don’t sleep on Alabama where Coach Nick Saban has done one of his best coaching jobs with this team that clearly has improved greatly over the course of the year. That SEC Championship game might be one heck of a game.
