Dortmund, July 17, 2025 — In one of the most sensational moves of the summer transfer window, Borussia Dortmund have officially confirmed the signing of English midfielder Jack Grealish from Manchester City. The 29-year-old playmaker has agreed to a five-year contract worth €45 million, keeping him at Signal Iduna Park until 2030. Grealish will wear the iconic number 10 jersey, previously worn by club legends such as Mario Götze and Lars Ricken.
The deal marks a major coup for the Bundesliga giants, who have been on the hunt for a creative force in midfield following the departure of Julian Brandt earlier this summer. Grealish, known for his dazzling dribbling, close control, and eye for a killer pass, fits the bill perfectly. Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl hailed the arrival as a “landmark signing”:

Grealish, who joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a British record £100 million, won three Premier League titles, one Champions League, and several domestic cups during his time at the Etihad. Despite struggling with injuries and consistency in recent months, his talent and footballing intelligence remain unquestioned.
His move to Germany mirrors that of fellow England internationals like Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, both of whom found success at Dortmund before high-profile returns to the Premier League. Grealish’s arrival is expected to boost both Dortmund’s commercial appeal and their on-field creativity.
With preseason already underway, Grealish is set to join up with his new teammates immediately and could make his debut in a friendly against Ajax next week.
