LAS VEGAS – Corey Heim battled through a rain delay and late-race challenges to claim victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday night. The TRICON Garage driver secured his first win of the 2024 season in a race that stretched into the early hours due to weather disruptions.
The race saw its first caution for rain on Lap 26, just four laps before the conclusion of Stage 1. This was followed by a red flag on Lap 35, which halted the action for nearly an hour. Racing resumed on Lap 37, but the unpredictable weather remained a factor throughout the night.
Heim showcased patience and skill in navigating the ever-changing track conditions. As the race progressed, multiple contenders, including reigning series champion Ben Rhodes and front-runner Christian Eckes, challenged for the lead. However, Heim’s No. 11 Toyota proved to be the strongest under the lights.
A pivotal moment came during the final stage when Heim took control in the closing laps. With a strong restart and strategic pit stops, he held off a late charge from Grant Enfinger and Rajah Caruth, both seeking their first win of the season. Heim’s truck maintained superior speed and handling, allowing him to cross the finish line first, securing the checkered flag.
“Definitely a long night, but it feels amazing to be here in Victory Lane,” Heim said after the race. “The team gave me a great truck, and we just had to be patient with the delays.”
The win further solidifies Heim’s presence as a title contender in 2024, adding another victory to his growing NASCAR Truck Series resume. With momentum on his side, he now looks ahead to the next challenge on the schedule, hoping to continue his strong performance in the season ahead.
