Josh Eccles looked back on what he described as a ‘strange game’ after City draw 3-3 with Watford.

The Sky Blues came from behind to earn a point late on, when Matty Godden struck, latching on to Haji Wright’s ball back across goal.

City fell behind three times in the game, but fought back to earn a point and Eccles praised the ‘never say die’ attitude in the Sky Blues side.

    Reflecting on the draw…

“Strange game to say the least. We will always take a point at home, but it was a weird one.

“I cannot say too much on it because it could have gone either way, we could have won, we could have lost. But we will take a point.

“Some of the goals were really weird, crazy goals. Of course, the own goal we got which gave us a little boost. Of course, what we then cannot do is let them score and go 3-2 ahead.

“With this team, we have this never die attitude. It was good for the team to come back and get the draw.”

    Falling behind in the game…

“It was hard to take because you never want to go one nil down.

“You always want to take the lead because it is a mountain to climb when you concede. But that is what we did, we got ourselves back into the game.”

On Milan’s freekick and his performance…

“I have seen him working on them in training. Me, him and a few others stay after training and take a few freekicks.

“He has got this weird technique that works a lot of the time so hopefully we will see more of that this season.

We had a lot of joy with Milan going down the flanks and I think that was Milan’s best game I have seen. Hopefully that shows people what he can do this season.”

    The way the game flowed…

“I spoke to (Ben) Sheaf after the game. I said I barely touched the ball in the game today. I think that was down to the way they play and the way they defend.

“It is hard to take because we do that (play out from the back) a lot in the games. We try to change the way we play: playing it out of the back. Sometimes we bring pressure on ourselves and if you make one bad pass, they will grab it and take the lead.”

    The start to the season…

“A lot of positives to take away, however the negative is we are only getting one point from three. Like I said, we are now four games unbeaten so we can build on that.

“Losing one game in five is never a bad thing.”
