Cardiff boss Erol Bulut admitted that Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore was indeed on his shopping list in the summer.

The Bluebirds were looking for another striker right up until the final day of the window, with WalesOnline understanding that Moore was very much on the radar. However, a deal did not materialise and the Wales striker has seen his game time on the south coast diminish greatly.

Bulut was a guest on Turkish channel TRT Spor ahead of Turkey’s game with Wales at Cardiff City Stadium last night and spoke glowingly about Moore, a player he “greatly admired”.

“Kieffer Moore was a player I wanted to buy or loan at the start of the season and greatly admired,” Bulut said. “We need to pay special attention to the crosses today. He’s tall and has very good feet.”

Cardiff are still in need of a striker in January, with Yakou Meite, Kion Etete and Ike Ugbo currently all slugging it out for that starting spot. But Premier League striker Moore, who scored 20 goals in his last full season with the Bluebirds, could seek a loan move away from the Cherries in the new year, having played just five Premier League games this season, all of which have come as a substitute.

Manolis Siopis was not included in either of Greece’s squads for their two Euro 2024 qualifiers over the last few days.

The Bluebirds midfielder is typically a regular for Gus Poyet’s side, having accrued 26 caps since making his debut in 2019. He was called up, alongside Dimitrios Goutas, for the Greek squad but, curiously, was not included in the matchday 23 for the game against New Zealand nor last night’s against France.

Rumours abounded after the game that Siopis had suffered a knee injury while on international duty, however no official confirmation has been given. Erol Bulut is due to speak to the press tomorrow and will likely address the issue.

Siopis has played in every game since arriving, starting 13 of his last 14 outings for the Bluebirds.

Young goalkeeper Rohan Luthra has returned from his loan at Slough Town.

The 21-year-old made 19 appearances for the National League South side and produced a number of eye-catching performances. The reasoning behind his return is as yet unclear.

Ashford netted a late equaliser against the Czech Republic in the last Wales camp and has continued his fine form in front of goal this week, scoring in the 2-1 defeat by Denmark on Monday night at Rodney Parade. The goal came courtesy of a small scramble after Rubin Colwill’s free kick.
