Victor Osimhen, the star striker for the Super Eagles, will have an MRI after suffering an injury on Friday, October 13, 2023, while Nigeria was playing Saudi Arabia in Portugal.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Saudi Arabia drew in the highly anticipated international friendly at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão, according to Naija News.
Both teams scored twice in the last minute of play to force a draw.
However, Osimhen was substituted off the field in the 55th minute of the match due to an injury. He was subsequently succeeded by Terem Moffi.
It has now been disclosed that the 24-year-old is still questionable for Monday’s Super Eagles friendly against the Mambas of Mozambique because of the injury.
In his post-match interview, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro stated that the Napoli striker will have a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
“In my opinion, will I go ahead and substitute a player that is injured right now? A month-long wound, or even two? In his post-game interview with the media, Peseiro stated, “It is better to put it in his mind now.”
He went on: “He will take the test, see how it goes, and if it doesn’t get better, you can expect the club to make the final call and pay his wage. Not just for Osimhen, but also for our athletes.
