Vancouver: Starting quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. inked a contract extension with the B.C. Lions on Wednesday, tying him to the team through the 2026 campaign.
After 2024, Adams, 31, was supposed to become a free agent.
At five feet eleven inches tall and 200 pounds, Adams completed 333 of 488 passes (68.2%) for a CFL-high 4,769 yards and 31 touchdowns, second only to Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros with 33. He led BC (12-6) to second place in the West Division behind the Blue Bombers (14-4) by winning 11 of his 16 starts.

Last season, Adams set career highs in passing yards, touchdowns, interceptions (18), attempts made, and completion percentage. He also ran 48 times for 324 yards (6.8 yards per yard) and a touchdown, recording a CFL-high 10 games with 300 yards or more of passing yards.

Adams, a native of Inglewood, California, is about to embark on his eighth season in the CFL and his third with B.C. Adams, a 2019 league all-star, has also played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2017), the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2018), and the Montreal Alouettes (2016–17, 2018–19, 2021–22).
In his 99 career regular-season appearances, Adams has completed 956 of 1,488 passes (64.2%) for 13,261 yards, 80 touchdowns, and 45 interceptions. In addition, he has run 265 times for 1,431 yards with an average of 5.4 yards and 21 touchdowns.
