Daniel Jones has no hesitation in returning to ‘new’ training with the Giants….

Yes, Jones was so excited on Wednesday, his first day back on the field as a full participant, that he injured his neck while waiting for the starting quarterback.
defense on Sunday for the Giants against the Raiders in chaos in Las Vegas.
“I feel fresh, I haven’t played in a few weeks,” said Jones.
Feeling fresh is one thing, but that doesn’t mean Jones has carte blanche to throw fastballs at his targets.
“I said, ‘You don’t throw it to the coach anymore, man.
Slow down that heater,” Slayton said.
    “He has good energy.
For all of us, when you take a break from the game, the first day back, it’s excitement.
I know he’s ready to play.
” “Yeah, I’m excited,” Jones said.
“I’m happy to get back into the swing of things and spend the week getting ready to play.
The Giants are 2-6, coming off a game they had almost no mathematical chance of losing in the final 24 seconds of regulation and still losing 13-10 to the Jets in overtime.
The Giants and their woe-scoring offense were no great shakes with Jones in the first five games.
His return, though, is something to anticipate for a team that needs a jolt of something, as far as producing points and entering the end zone.
Jones went down in Week 5 after Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel sacked him from behind, causing an injury to the left side of Jones’ neck.
He experienced symptoms in his left shoulder and down his left arm and weakness on that side.
He was cleared for contact this past Sunday morning.
He said he wasn’t worried about being beaten after his shootouts.
“I would stay aggressive and look for an opportunity to run while they are there, then be smart, dodge and protect yourself,” Jones said.
“That’s something I always try to work on and continue to improve, so that’s not going to change.
” Jones returns to an offense that struggles with him and works without him.
In five appearances, Jones has thrown just two touchdown passes and thrown six interceptions – after throwing just five interceptions in the entire 2022 season.
He has been sacked 28 times and some could have been avoided with better awareness in the pocket.
Without him, the Giants lost to the Bills (14-9) and beat the Commanders (14-7) with Tyrod Taylor as the starter.
Taylor looked professional and didn’t turn the ball over, but he missed late in the first half in Buffalo, leaving the Giants on the Bills’ one-yard line as time expired.
Taylor was in trouble last week against the Jets when he was forced out in the second quarter with a chest injury.
Tommy DeVito, placed on the practice squad, ran for the Giants’ only touchdown, but he wasn’t counted on to throw the ball in the second half of the loss to the Jets.

The last time Jones played, Saquon Barkley was out with a high ankle sprain and having them both on the field will help Jones’ fake play ability and Barkley doesn’t have to run into a crowded field of players.
    defender.
“Wow, it’s good to have another player as DJ, I know he’s excited,” coach Brian Daboll said.
“He’s been playing with Saquon for a while, so it’s good to have him back and we’ll see where the others are over the weekend.
” » The “other guys” Daboll is talking about are offensive tackles.
Jones will also be helped by the return of one or both starters.
Andrew Thomas (hamstring) could be available this week after missing the last seven games and Evan Neal (ankle) is close to returning after missing the last two games.
The Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler on Tuesday night, as well as offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi on Wednesday and will bench Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell.
    midfielder’s mind.

Former Giants quarterback Antonio Pierce is interim head coach.
“He’s your starting quarterback,” Slayton said.
“It means a lot to have the DJ back.
