The Cleveland Browns are adding a new quarterback to their lineup in response to Deshaun Watson’s injury, and they have a former Super Bowl MVP. ESPN announced on Sunday that the Browns will sign Joe Flacco to their practice squad. Flacco is expected to be added to the team’s active roster.
The Browns practiced with Flacco on Friday, so they know what shape he’s in. He gives the AFC North team another option in addition to Dorian Thompson-Robinson and PJ Walker. Deshaun Watson is out for the season with shoulder surgery.
Walker saw significant action in three straight games in Cleveland in October, but threw just 1 touchdown and 5 interceptions, giving the Browns the start of the DTR on Sunday in Week 11. The former UCLA quarterback was 24-of-43 for 165 yards and interception.
